How it works

From your story to a comic book

This is the example comic that comes with the app: a D&D session, the script Nani!? wrote from it and the first page it drew. The numbers show where each panel came from.

  1. 1

Paste your story, add your cast

Paste or write it, or import a chat log. Nani!? finds the characters. Add a photo for each one, or let Nani!? draw them from the story.

    Nani!? writes the script

The story is laid out page by page and panel by panel: where it happens, who is in it, and the lines they say.

    Script · Page 1 of 24 panels
    1. 1

Top, full width · wide shot

A moonlit garden at the foot of a crooked stone wizard’s tower. The three sneak up to a huge carved wooden door.

      CaptionMadame Omelia’s tower. Midnight.

      VexQuiet. I’ll pick the lock.

      ThorgaNo need.

    2. 2

      Middle left · action shot

Thorga charges shoulder-first into the door at full speed. The door does not move at all.

      SoundWHAM!

    3. 3

      Middle right · medium shot

Thorga lies flat on her back in the grass, dazed. Lili points at a small brass plate on the door that reads PULL.

      LiliIt says PULL.

    4. 4

Bottom, full width · wide shot

A treasure room lit by candles. Vex reaches for the ornate chest and its lid snaps shut on her arm: it is a mimic, all teeth.

      VexIT BIT ME!

      SoundCHOMP!

  3. 3

    Then it draws the pages

Every page is drawn from the character pictures, so the cast looks the same in every panel, with your lines in the bubbles.

Page 1 of Chester the Mimic in four panels: the party sneaks up to Madame Omelia’s tower; Thorga hits the door with a WHAM; Lili points at a sign that says PULL; a treasure chest bites Vex’s arm with a CHOMP.

Characters

Your photo. Any style.

Each character gets a picture first, and every page is drawn from it. Faces and outfits stay the same from panel to panel.

  • No photo? Nani!? draws the character from the story, and you can edit the look.
  • Saved characters go to your library and come back in your next comic without being drawn again.
  • The photo stays on your phone. Only the look and the drawn picture are saved.

FAQ

Questions

What can I turn into a comic?

Any story you have as text: a D&D or other tabletop RPG session, a group chat, a game night, a trip, a meeting or something you wrote. Paste it, write it, or import a Discord export, a CCFOLIA log, a text file or a subtitle file. No story? Storyteller writes one.

Do the characters look the same on every page?

Each character is drawn once as a picture in your style, and every page is drawn from that picture. You see the pictures before the pages are drawn and can redraw one that looks wrong.

How long is a comic?

2, 4, 6 or 8 pages, with a cover if you want one. Your free first comic can be up to 2 pages.

How much does it cost?

Your first comic of up to 2 pages and your first story are free. After that you buy credits: a page or a cover is 10 credits. There is no subscription, and credits never expire.

What happens to my photos?

The photo stays on your phone. To read the look and draw the character picture, it is sent to Anthropic and Google, who may not use it to train their models. Your account keeps only the look and the drawn picture.

Can I print my comic?

Yes. Save it as one PDF with the characters and the script, or share the pages as images.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. Nani!? is for adults, 18 and over.
